Tamilok

One of Palawan's famous delicacies is something you'd never expect, the tasty Tamilok, or "wood worm." But, if it's any consolation, Tamilok, considered a favorite appetizer, is neither wood nor a worm but a shell-less fatty mollusk, that live among rotting mangroves. Locals claim that this exotic treat is even better than oyster! Especially when eaten fresh, you can dip it is calamansi juice with crushed chili and salt á la kinilaw.
